What is Legitimate interest assessment?

GDPR Glossary Also known as: LIA

The documented three-part test (purpose, necessity, balancing) you run before relying on legitimate interests.

A legitimate interest assessment (LIA) is the record showing you have properly relied on the legitimate-interests basis. It has three parts: the purpose test, the necessity test, and the balancing test.

Keeping an LIA is part of demonstrating accountability, and it should be revisited if the processing changes.
